When's your next Disney trip?

As often happens, Funny Book writing deadlines have kept me away from the Disney blog. I'm back on X-Men after Yost's great run, so run to your local comics shop next week and pick up X-Men 15.1 if ya know what's good for ya!

But I digress.

While I do love to spout my opinions here (I have many, and they are all genius) what I really like is to hear from you. Anyone out there have a Disney trip planned? When? Where are you staying? What are you most looking forward to? What worries you the most? (Long lines? Bad weather?)

Spill, people.

  1. I think this is going to be an off year for us. The kids are in that dead zone where they can't fly free anymore but they're still too little for a long drive. Next year my wife has training down there in June so we'll be renting a Town and Country (our official Disney World minivan) and heading down. We'll be staying at the Embassy Suites in LBV which I always love.

Two things scare me. 1) Driving that far with kids. At any age. 2)Going in June. The weather will be worse and the crowds bigger. So far we've always gone in January and February when the weather sucks in MI. Though when we went last year it was COLD for most of the trip.

I still think we need to organize a future Bouchercon at Disney World. They're fantastic for conferences.

  2. Bryon,

June is actually not so bad for weather. Not the best, but not the worst. Disney actually offers incentives (like free meal plan) to get people there in August because it is so unGodly hot and humid. So you could do worse.

  3. January 15th is the 10 year anniversary of our Disney College Program, so a friend and I are trying to plan a 10 Year Reunion.

I'm thinking Disney's Art of Animation value resort (Lion King or Cars) for the hotel. Ideally though, I'd love to be able to do Wilderness Lodge or AK Lodge.

5 day package. We're talking to a Disney-centric travel agency.

Don't know if we'll be able to do Islands of Adventure, but I really want to see WW of Harry Potter.

Hopefully we can pull this off. Some of us weren't on speaking terms the last few years. We may end up allowing non-CP friends and family in just to increase our package deal. I just wish Disney had some sort of special offers for things like this.

I can't tell you how excited I am. I'm praying this works out next Spring.

  4. Fingers crossed, Rebelcomix. Sounds liek a blast.

I've never been to AK Lodge. One of the big holes in my Disney experience.

  5. Nothing on the calendar at the moment. Thought we were getting there in December for big HS BBALL tourney, but that looks like its gonna be 2012 because of the necessary fund raising. Being on a school schedule makes it challenging. I would like to go, even for a quick trip, in the spring.

Bryon - don't write off the car trip with kids. It's easier than you think. And it's fun.

  6. Byron, we drove to WDW from Wisconsin many times when the kids were small...they sleep a lot and now that you can get the DVD players for the car...piece of cake. What better way to get them in the mode for the Mouse than to play Disney movies? My kids also liked following our road progress on maps that we highlighted with a marker.

No Disney trips planned until fall of 2012, we own timeshare so who knows where we'll be staying this time...LOL!

  7. We plan on going next June/July. That is the time of year when we went last, and it worked out all right. My choice to stay is the Wilderness Lodge again, but we all agreed to look at the other hotels on the website to see if we wanted to try a different one. Everyone is already looking forward to it.

  8. Kabugajski,

If the Wilderness Lodge had a monorail station, they would give Polynesian some stiff competition for my fave place to stay. But they do have a boat. So that's good.

Polynesian is pricey. But it is sooooo convenient.

    And I am sooooo lazy.
